Our Founders
Dipen Mehta
Founder, President
Dipen Mehta of Atlanta, GA, is a senior at Walton High School. From a young age, Dipen has been passionate about alleviating systemic inequalities in education and helping the underprivileged realize their full potential. He has spearheaded outreach and fundraising since he was fourteen years old and has recruited many community partners for the organization. Dipen is a driving force in Coding for Community’s new development in refugee and international outreach and is always seeking partners and initiatives to move the organization forward and positively impact more lives. He has expanded computer collection and refurbishing drives and engaged in refugee empowerment programs with Burmese Rohingya community and Bhutanese refugees in the United States and extended outreach programs to Africa and Asia. When he is not doing research or volunteering, Dipen can be found hiking or playing cricket to relax.
Executive Team
Piyush Chawla
Piyush is a current freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is majoring in computer science, with an interest in emerging technologies. He aspires to one day contribute to educational efforts in the fields of computer science and mathematics.
Kenneth Hwang
Kenneth is a current junior at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is pursuing an degree in chemistry. In the future, he hopes to lead STEM education efforts among youth in the United States and across the globe.
Akshin Vemana
Akshin Vemana is a student at Walton High School and the Vice-President of Curriculum of the Walton High School Coding for Community chapter. Akshin has assisted in development of app development and web development instruction material.
Rocco Maniscalco
Rocco Maniscalco is a student at Walton High School and the Vice-President of Outreach of the Walton High School Coding for Community chapter. Rocco has worked alongside Dipen in identifying community centers at which Coding for Community can implement STEM education programs.
Mrs. Linda Vu
Mrs. Linda Vu is the faculty mentor for the Walton High School Coding for Community chapter, assisting in coordinating logistics of programming educational initiatives.
Sanket Mehta
Sanket is passionate about improving accessibility to STEM education and opportunity. Partnerships and outreach are important to him.
